We are thrilled to announce a powerful new capability in Tdyn RamSeries: a dedicated module for Fatigue Damage Assessment (FDA) in composite materials!
Understanding and predicting fatigue is critical for ensuring the safety and durability of composite structures in high-performance sectors like marine, aerospace, and renewable energy. With our latest implementation, engineers can now accurately predict the fatigue life of complex composite laminates, preventing premature failure and optimizing designs for longevity.
What’s New?
Our new FDA tool is built on a robust methodology that calculates fatigue damage based on the Palmgren-Miner linear damage rule.

This allows for the prediction of failure nucleation once the fatigue damage reaches a critical value (d=1.0).

Key features include:
- Accurate Life Prediction: Simulate the number of cycles to failure under various cyclic stress levels.
- Detailed Damage Visualization: Analyze the damage state across the laminate to identify critical failure zones.
- Validated Results: Our methodology is rigorously tested against experimental data and academic research, ensuring you can trust the results.
Validated for Confidence
This new feature has been successfully validated against experimental results from Sandia National Laboratories and numerical benchmarks.

As shown in our validation case, the results obtained with Tdyn RamSeries show excellent agreement with both experimental data and results from other published research.

This validation confirms the reliability of our solver for complex engineering challenges.
This implementation is also a result of research conducted within the framework of the R+D H2020 FibreGy project.
