DIGITAL SOLUTION FOR SMART AGRICULTURE

SpreadDEM is a tool designed for agricultural machinery manufacturers, developed for design and engineering, prioritizing the innovation of their products by incorporating modern technological solutions from Industry 4.0.

WHAT IS IT?
SpreadDEM is a 3D computational simulation software designed to analyze processes of solid fertilizer particle distribution using centrifugal spreaders.

WHAT IS THE ADDITIONAL VALUE? SpreadDEM offers a complete and practical solution to optimize the design of agricultural fertilization machinery, becoming an alternative to experimental trial-and-error tests. Thanks to its user-friendly interface, users can simulate, in a few intuitive steps and with minimal training, the performance of machinery in real-world scenarios.

WHAT IS THE TECHNOLOGICAL DIFFERENTIAL? SpreadDEM is a computational calculation program that solves the dynamic analysis of bulk particle flows through the Discrete Element Method (DEM). The trajectory of each fertilizer particle is evaluated, from the hopper to its contact with the ground, characterizing material properties, particle sizes, shapes, and mechanical distribution devices.

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS OBTAINED?
Quickly and easily, the user obtains results of the fertiliser distribution following the same industry control standards, for example:

  • Static spread pattern
  • Moving transverse distribution pattern
  • Coefficient of variation

In addition to the results from the previous graphics, the user can delve into the study by analyzing each particle’s speeds, trajectories, impacts, and flight times, being able to export the obtained results as images and videos.

The results obtained allow cost and time savings in the testing of new prototypes.

RECOGNITION RECEIVED

SpreadDEM has been awarded at the 40th International Agricultural Machinery Fair (FIMA) 2018, Zaragoza, Spain.

Despite being a solution designed for agricultural machinery, SpreadDEM has proven to be a valuable tool in other industrial sectors, such as solving the distribution of food in fish farms and the dispersion of salt for snow removal in civil infrastructure.
