1.7.3. File menu
File menu contains several specific options of Postprocess. These options are described below:
1.7.3.1. Save
File >> Save
- Toolbar button:
If results file has been created in Binary2 format then this option saves the elements created in Postprocess as information boxes, meshes (cut plane, copies of meshes, etc), flow patterns,
1.7.3.2. Import
File >> Import
This menu option allows to import a post process results file (*.post, *.msh, *.res) in both standard post process format and ASCII format. It also permits to import a batch file (*.bch).

Fig. 1.189 Import menu. It is possible to import postprocess, animations and batch files.
1.7.3.3. Export
File >> Export
This menu option allows to export postprocess results and meshes to files in different formats.

Fig. 1.190 Export menu. This option allows to export postprocess results and meshes to files in ASCII, Traditional postprocess and NASTRAN.
File >> Export >> Postprocess file
Postprocess results and meshes are stored in standard format. It is important to note that the files stored in standard format could not be read by the traditional postprocess.
File >> Export >> Traditional postprocess file
Postprocess meshes and results are exported in a file in Traditional postprocess format. This file can only be read by the Traditional postprocess.
File >> Export >> ASCII postprocess >> Meshes
Postprocess meshes are exported to ASCII format. They are stored in a file (*.msh).
File >> Export >> ASCII postprocess >> Meshes and results
Postprocess meshes and results are exported to ASCII format. Meshes are stored in a file (*.msh) and results in another file (*.res).
Meshes and results exported to ASCII format can be read by Traditional postprocess and this postprocess too.
File >> Export >> Nastran >> Meshes
Postprocess meshes are exported to NASTRAN format.
File >> Export >> Nastran >> Results
Postprocess results are exported to NASTRAN format. Only results of displacements, rotations, temperature, and liquid pressure can be exported. Other results are ignored.
File >> Export >> Nastran >> Vibration modes
Only vibration modes calculated in a modal analysis are exported in NASTRAN format and other results are ignored.
File >> Export >> VTK files >> Meshes
Postprocess meshes are exported to VTK format. They are stored in a file (*.vtu).
File >> Export >> VTK files >> Meshes and results
Postprocess meshes and results are exported to VTK format. If the analysis to be exported is static, then all meshes and results are exported to a file (*.vtu). However, if the analysis is dynamic, then a file (*.pvd) contains information about where every step is stored, and a folder is created with a file for each step (*.vtu).
Only results on Nodes are exported and on Gauss points are ignored. Meshes of cuts or copied meshes and flow patterns are ignored too.
1.7.3.3.1. Export preferences
All meshes or only those that are activated are exported depending on the value of Only meshes ON defined in Preferences data tree. Please, see Preferences data tree manual to know more information about Export preferences.
