{"id":4988,"date":"2025-04-04T07:58:41","date_gmt":"2025-04-04T07:58:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.compassis.com\/?p=4988"},"modified":"2025-04-04T07:58:56","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T07:58:56","slug":"international-recognition-of-the-coupled-model-for-atir-platform-2-0","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.compassis.com\/en\/news\/international-recognition-of-the-coupled-model-for-atir-platform-2-0\/","title":{"rendered":"International Recognition of the Coupled Model for ATIR Platform 2.0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We are proud to announce that Julio Garc\u00eda Espinosa, co-founder of Compass Ingenier\u00eda y Sistemas, has been honored at the <a href=\"https:\/\/64congreso.ingenierosnavales.com\/en\/homepage-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">64th International Congress of Naval Engineering and Maritime Industry<\/a> for his outstanding work<em> \u201cDevelopment and Application of a Coupled Model for the Design and Verification of the ATIR 2.0 Platform Structure\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An innovative approach to the structural design of ATIR 2.0<\/h3>\n\n<p>&#8220;This work presents an innovative methodology for the optimisation and verification of the structure of the ATIR 2.0 tidal energy platform. The development was conducted within the Joint Research Unit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimne.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CIMNE<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/navales.etsin.upm.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ETSI Navales of the UPM<\/a>, in collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magallanesrenovables.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Magallanes Renovables<\/a> and with the support of Compass Ingenier\u00eda y Sistemas SA. The implementation has been carried out with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.compassis.com\/en\/tdyn\/seakeeping-tdyn-seafem\/\">SeaFEM<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.compassis.com\/en\/tdyn\/structural-analysis-tdyn-ramseries\/\">Ramseries<\/a> analysis modules of our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.compassis.com\/en\/tdyn\/\">Tdyn<\/a> analysis solution.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Challenges of designing floating structures<\/h3>\n\n<p>The design of such structures presents unique challenges due to their structural configuration, dynamics and environmental exposure. The interaction between waves, currents and structural response must be analysed with high accuracy. For this purpose, an innovative coupled hydroelastic analysis model has been implemented based on a detailed global finite element model of the structure from the ATIR 2.0 platform.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Optimising the structural analysis process<\/h3>\n\n<p>In order to optimise the structural model analysis process, a modal reduction method has been used. This has drastically reduced calculation times without compromising accuracy. This methodology has been accepted by Bureau Veritas to evaluate the structural and fatigue resistance of the platform. This represents a key step towards type certification for ATIR 2.0.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Award for innovation in hydroelastic analysis<\/h3>\n\n<p>We would also like to highlight the paper \u201cFully coupled hydroelastic analysis of floating wind platforms\u201d, presented by Borja Serv\u00e1n, lead developer of SeaFEM. Borja Serv\u00e1n was recognised with the 4th prize of the congress, highlighting innovation and excellence in the hydroelastic analysis of floating wind platforms.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Commitment to innovation in naval engineering<\/h3>\n\n<p>This recognition reinforces <strong>Compass Ingenier\u00eda y Sistemas<\/strong> commitment to innovation and the development of advanced solutions for marine engineering and renewable energies.
