{"id":3156,"date":"2022-10-28T08:30:45","date_gmt":"2022-10-28T08:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.compassis.com\/?p=3156"},"modified":"2022-10-31T09:47:29","modified_gmt":"2022-10-31T09:47:29","slug":"platform-screen-door-fem-verification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.compassis.com\/en\/news\/platform-screen-door-fem-verification\/","title":{"rendered":"Platform screen door FEM Verification"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A FEM study of the structural viability and verification of a platform screen door (PSD) and the corresponding anchoring to the railway station platform has been performed. The door must comply with the structural requirements provided by the customer (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.manusa.com\/en\/sectors\/transport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Manusa<\/a>). This screen door is to be installed at Thessaloniki underground stations, and the same design has been already successfully installed in other locations. The study includes the CAD\/CAE modeling of the PSD design, for its verification by means of direct calculation (finite elements method). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All the analyses have been performed with the FEM structural analysis software <a href=\"https:\/\/www.compassis.com\/en\/software\/structural-analysis-tdyn-ramseries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tdyn RamSeries<\/a>, developed and commercialised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.compassis.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Compass<\/a>. A CAD\/CAE 3D shell\/solids model of the screen door, suitable for FEM analysis, which has been created, based on the data (electronic drawings and CAD model) provided by the customer, including all the material data, boundary conditions and loads\/load cases definition, as well as the generation and the adaptation of the finite elements mesh. The loading conditions will be  established according to the requirements requested by the customer. This includes a seismic loading (treated as static), according to anti seismic code NEAK. The verification has been performed following general FEM structural analyses procedures and recommendations (mesh stability and solution convergence verification), and rules from Eurocode EC-3, Bureau Veritas and DNV-GL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The model uses mainly shells, but also some solids for elements such as door wheels and axles, and the glass sheets. The zones were plates of different thickness coincide are modelled with a single shell to which an equivalent thickness is assigned, as will be shown in the CAE model materials section. Beam elements have also been used for modelling the \u201cU\u201d beams which are used for supporting the equipment which is attached to the PSD
