This January, FIBRE4YARDS<\/a>, a research and development project that brings together 13 leading companies and institutions to work on promoting the European shipbuilding industry, has started sailing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of FIBRE4YARDS is to research and implement advanced production technologies already successfully tested in other sectors, to shipbuilding. The project has received funding from the Horizon 2020 funds of the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project has been promoted by Compass, and its coordination is carried out by Dr. Xavier Mart\u00ednez Garc\u00eda, researcher at CIMNE (International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering), and Daniel S\u00e1, senior naval architect at Compass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The idea of \u200b\u200bFIBRE4YARDS arose as a natural continuation of the Fibership project, which studied the application of composite materials in the structure of large ships”, explains Daniel S\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne more step in the modernization of the sector involves incorporating tools to make construction processes more efficient, such as advanced technologies for composite materials, digital twins and the entire Shipyard 4.0 environment. This is the field of research of FIBRE4YARDS\u201d, adds Daniel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
